Join Pastor Allen Jackson as he reveals a biblical perspective on
the startling events unfolding in our nation and shows us how we
can hold onto everlasting hope and flourish, even in the midst of
the chaos. Christians today live in an unsettling reality that is
defined by a steady cultural drift toward blatant immorality and
disregard for the truth. The economic and social instability of the
past couple of years--not to mention the fear and confusion brought
on by the global pandemic--have only added to the atmosphere of
uncertainty and anxiety. But Jackson has an urgent message of hope
to share in Big Trouble Ahead: God's kingdom is unshakeable. If we
take hold of the fundamental truths of the gospel and decipher the
gathering storm clouds through the lens of Scripture, the church
will be empowered to prevail. In Big Trouble Ahead, Jackson gives
you the tools you need to: Be encouraged that nothing can separate
you from God's love and his involvement in this generation Learn
how to view current events and today's biggest controversies
through the lens of a biblical perspective Be reminded of God's
abiding concern for your life Whatever trials or challenges life
may bring, Big Trouble Ahead is sure to bring you reassurance and
renewed courage, rooted firmly in God's presence, goodness, and his
message of unchanging hope in the gospel. Praise for Big Trouble
Ahead: "In a world that seems to have completely lost its mind,
Pastor Allen Jackson points us back to the steadfast hope we have
in Christ. Not in Congress. Not in cancel culture. Not in conflict
or controversy. In Christ." --Dave Ramsey, bestselling author and
radio host "Because Allen Jackson is one of the most insightful and
dynamic pastors on the planet, when he speaks, I try to listen.
True to his always Christ-centered message, Pastor Jackson reminds
us that the 'big trouble ahead' should not rob believers of their
hope and expectation." --Mike Huckabee, former governor of
Arkansas, 2008 presidential candidate, New York Times bestselling
author, and host of popular weekly talk show Huckabee "Pastor Allen
Jackson is an uncompromising voice for truth in a generation where
those in authority haven't 'played it straight.' In Big Trouble
Ahead, Jackson lays out current events through the lens of the
Bible and offers a guide to help you wisely chart new territory."
--Eric Metaxas, #1 New York Times bestselling author and host of
the nationally syndicated Eric Metaxas Radio Show
Megachurch pastor Allen Jackson invites readers on a 100-day adventure
of
experiencing God through ten biblical practices that will reignite
their faith and
transform their lives.
Many Christians experience low points in their faith, times when their
spiritual lives
have grown cold, stagnant, or routine. They feel frustrated and
desperate to
reconnect with God. Yet encouragement alone is not enough. We need
God's power to
bring transformation, and we need specific tools and a focused intent
to know the
Lord. Drawing upon years of pastoral ministry and his own experience,
Allen Jackson
has developed a 100-day plan to reinvigorate a believer's life,
organized around ten
declarations of intent, including:
- I Intend to Grow Spiritually
- I Intend to Read the Gospels
- I Intend to Pray Daily
- I Intend to Honor God in My Home
- I Intend to Work with Integrity
A simple investment of twenty minutes a day will create an unstoppable
momentum
in readers' lives. Their hearts are opened to new possibilities with
God where his
purposes unfold and where the fruit of his rewards are found.
This informative book provides a step-by-step account of the
construction, from scratch, of a model railway called Dovedale. The
model is operated like a real modern railway and was built entirely
by the author within a strict low budget, using, wherever possible,
recycled materials. Moreover, Dovedale is based on a specific
prototype that exists in Buxton in Derbyshire, where freight trains
run into an interchange siding, the locomotive runs round the train
and then departs to a different destination. Some model railways
are operated somewhat chaotically and are characterized by frequent
derailments and locomotives that stop arbitrarily. If you wish to
move away from this kind of layout and construct a model railway
that operates realistically and reflects more closely the way that
railways actually work in the second decade of the 21st century,
then this is the book for you. Whilst constantly emphasizing
realistic operation, the book covers layout planning and
construction, controllers, point motors, power supply, cables and
connectors, ways of operating traffic flows, signalling, track
droppers, control panels and wiring, control and interlocking,
lighting, sequence and block bells, the use of closed circuit
television, and much more.
For over 150 years Britain's railways have relied on a system of
semaphore signalling, but by 2020, all semaphore signals and
lineside signal boxes will be gone. A Contemporary Perspective on
GWR Signalling provides a unique record of the last operational
mechanical signalling and infrastructure on Britain's railway
network, as it applied to the former Great Western Railway (and
lines owned jointly with other companies). It also includes a
comprehensive explanation of what mechanical signalling is and how
it works. There is detailed coverage of the signal boxes and
infrastructure on Network Rail, including routes through
Shrewsbury, Hereford, Worcester, Cornwall, Chester and North
Warwickshire. Beautifully illustrated with over 400 contemporary
images and with detailed information from a 2003-2014 survey, this
is an essential resource for anyone with an interest in the
traditional signalling systems of railways in Britain.

Known as the Prairies, these tank engines of the 2-6-2T variety
were some of Churchward's earliest designs and were the precursor
for successful variations of one of the classes - numbered 51XX
until 1949. There were two basic types, the smaller type for branch
lines and the larger type mostly for outer suburban work in London
and Birmingham, but also used as banking engines at Sapperton,
Rattery, Hemerdon and Dainton inclines. The smaller 45XX class
started off as a class of seventy-five engines, but were eventually
developed by Collett into a class more than double the size. They
saw service on the St Ives portion of the Cornish Riviera Express
and the Pwllheli portion of the Cambrian Coast Express. Profusely
illustrated throughout and packed with technical detail, Allen
Jackson tells the story of the Great Western Railway's Prairie
class locomotives.
Great Western Railway Stars, Castles and Kings examines the history
and workings of these legendary classes of passenger steam
locomotives, the first of which, the North Star, was built in 1906.
Richly illustrated with over 200 photographs, the book includes
illustrated explanations of how Great Western Railway steam engines
work; details of the engines' work on named expresses and in
ordinary service; overview of the survivors, heritage organizations
and their futures; technical specifications and timelines of each
class and finally, GWR and British Rail Motive Power Depot codes
and train head codes.
This book is about one ordinary person's efforts, largely carried
out single-handedly and with limited funds, to build a model
railway layout in his garden that runs just like the real thing. It
is based on Brymbo in North Wales, where the GWR and LNER were
joined by the LMS in the search for mineral wealth. Allen Jackson's
recreation runs between three sheds and features empty and loaded
coal trains travelling from colliery to steelworks; pickup goods;
branch passenger and excursion traffic; and even its very own CCTV
and system to aid signalling. Packed with wonderful illustrations
including photographs and layout diagrams, this book is a wonderful
tribute to a lifetime's hobby and will delight railway modellers
both young and old.
Perhaps more has been written about the Great Western Railway than
any other, and the company is regarded with the most affection. The
combination of an unbroken history, engineering icons of the
Victorian era, holiday destinations and a visual appeal in their
design work went a long way in keeping the GWR in pole position.
The stations and other structures have long enjoyed the admiration
of many and are a quintessential ingredient of the GWR recipe for
remembrance. Change has always been with us on the railways and
none more so than in the twenty-first century, where much of the
GWR scene is to be swept away under the wires of electrification.
The GWR proposed electrification of the Taunton to Penzance route
in the 1930s and would have carried it out if they'd had the cash
so, eighty years later, this change has an air of inevitability
about it. Great Western Railway Stations is a last look at much of
the GWR architecture, some of which is listed, and aims to present
a lavishly illustrated overview of what remains of the old company.
For over 150 years Britain's railways have relied on a system of
semaphore signalling, but by 2020, all semaphore signals and
lineside signal boxes will be gone. In his previous book, author
Allen Jackson covered the GWR lines; here, he continues his journey
by providing a pictorial record of the last operational signalling
and infrastructure on Britain's railway network, as it applied to
the former London, Midland and Scottish Railway (and lines owned
jointly with other companies). This second volume covers the routes
of the following companies: London and North Western Railway;
Caledonian Railway and Highland Railway. It is an essential
resource for anyone with an interest in the traditional signalling
systems of railways in Britain. Beautifully illustrated with over
400 contemporary colour photographs with detailed information from
a 2003-2014 survey. A companion to A Contemporary Perspective on
LMS Railway Signalling Vol 1 - Semaphore Swansong (Crowood 2015).
